Diella Habonimana , Darcy Iranzi and Lahay Loy Niyok wizera are three children living with visual impairment, originally from the Cibitoke province , north-east of Burundi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coming from poor families, with no hope of a better future, these young people did not think they would be able to attend school like everyone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is through its annual activities to identify children with visual impairments of school age from the most disadvantaged families that the Uwiragiye Foundation has succeeded in reintegrating these young people. Today, they are in third grade and enjoying their right to be in school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uwiragiye Foundation team approached them to find out their feelings of appreciation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Exalting the foundation, they describe: \u201cMy name is Diella Habonimana , I am from Cibitoke province in Buganda commune , my father is called Ndoricimpa Japhet and my mother is called Kezakimana Fulaha , I am a 3rd year student at Penn School blind .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For now, I’m happy to have had the opportunity to go to school. I was born normal, but then I was struck down by an illness, and I ended up becoming visually impaired. Before coming to school, I was cursed by those around me who saw my disability as a burden on my family. I was called many things. But since the Uwiragiye Foundation took me in, things have changed.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00ab\u00a0My name is Darcy Iranzi , I am from Cibitoke province, Buganda commune on Ruhagarika hill . My father is called Martin Nsabiyaremye , my mother Niyokwizera Julienne. I thank the Uwiragiye Foundation which educated me and treated me. I was suffering in my genitals, now I am cured,\u00a0\u00bb he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00ab\u00a0My name is Lahay Loy Niyokwizera , my father is Jean Marie Bigirimana and my mother is Esp\u00e9rance Niyokwizera . I was happy after hearing that the agents of the Uwiragiye Foundation came to pick us up from our home in Buganda by vehicle. I didn’t think I could attend school, but now I am in the 3rd year. May the patroness of the Uwiragiye Foundation enjoy the blessings of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We noticed that the three young people are more alert than the others, but also intelligent, as evidenced by the 71% score of Darcy Iranzi , who ranked 5th. He is also the class representative. Despite his health, he is able to read and write thanks to the Braille alphabet. Today, these children sing and participate in various recreational games like the other children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uwiragiye Foundation began its activities in 2018 with 13 children, all of whom were visually impaired. It currently serves over 100 students with visual impairments who benefit from learning programs that prepare them for safe social integration and integral development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\r\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
